ANGELES CITY — In preparation for the upcoming National and Local Elections on May 12, 2025, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Angeles City has officially started the distribution of Voter Information Sheets (VIS) to registered voters across the city.
The VIS is a four-page document containing essential information such as the voter’s full name, address, precinct number, voting center, and a set of reminders to help ensure a smooth and informed voting process. This initiative is part of COMELEC’s commitment to promoting voter awareness and reducing confusion on election day.
COMELEC officials clarified that each voter will be asked to sign upon receiving their VIS, and these signatures serve only as proof of receipt. The agency also issued a strong reminder to the public to be cautious of misinformation and fake news circulating online regarding the collection and usage of these signatures.
“Some misinformation has surfaced suggesting that the signatures collected may be used for other purposes,” COMELEC Angeles warned. “We want to assure everyone that this is purely for documentation purposes and will not be used in any political or legal manner beyond this process.”
The distribution of VIS is being done door-to-door and through barangay coordination to ensure that all registered voters receive their information ahead of time. COMELEC encourages residents to double-check the details on their VIS and report any discrepancies immediately.
By equipping voters with this personalized guide, the COMELEC aims to streamline voting procedures, avoid precinct confusion, and help reduce waiting times during the actual election. The agency also reminds voters to bring a valid ID and their VIS when they head to the polls.
COMELEC Angeles continues to appeal to the public to stay vigilant against disinformation and to follow only verified updates from official sources. The distribution of VIS is expected to continue in the coming weeks leading up to the May 12 elections.
