On December 17, 2024, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) held a successful leg of its Automated Counting Machine (ACM) Roadshow in Angeles City. The event, which took place at the Best Western Plus Metro Clark in Balibago, featured a detailed demonstration of the new Korean-made Miru System’s ACM, an essential part of the upcoming elections.
City Election Officer Atty. Charmaine Fhaye Casquejo led the presentation, highlighting the system’s advanced features aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of the election process. The Miru System, which will be used for the automated counting of votes, is designed to provide a more reliable and secure voting experience for both voters and election officials.
The demonstration was part of the Central Luzon Media Association-Pampanga Chapter’s Balitaan at Talakayan media forum, a gathering that brings together media professionals to discuss significant developments. The roadshow provided an opportunity for the public and media representatives to learn more about the Miru System and its capabilities.
Atty. Casquejo explained that the new ACMs will not only speed up the counting process but will also improve the accuracy of vote tallying, minimizing human error and reducing the time needed to announce results. She emphasized that the introduction of these machines is part of COMELEC’s ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s election systems and ensure a more transparent process.
Members of the media, including those from Punto News, attended the event to observe the demonstration and ask questions about the technology. The event also served as an opportunity for attendees to express their thoughts on the new system and how it will impact future elections.
In addition to the technical presentation, the ACM Roadshow is part of a series of educational initiatives by COMELEC to ensure that the public and stakeholders are well-informed about the tools and processes involved in the upcoming elections. Atty. Casquejo reassured attendees that the new system is reliable and designed with the security of voters and election results in mind.
As the ACM Roadshow continues its journey across the region, it aims to increase awareness of the technological advancements being made in the Philippine electoral system. The success of the Angeles City leg of the roadshow sets a positive tone for future demonstrations in other areas, as COMELEC works to ensure a smooth and trustworthy election process.
