On January 25, 2025, the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., continued its house-to-house distribution of ₱1,000 cash assistance and a three-month supply of Vitamin C supplements to 696 senior citizens in Barangay Sta. Trinidad. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to support its elderly residents and ensure their well-being.
The distribution is part of a broader program that will see 47,670 registered senior citizens from all 33 barangays in the city receive both cash aid and Vitamin C supplements. These efforts have been consistent over the past five years, demonstrating the city’s commitment to providing for its senior citizens, especially during challenging times.
The distribution was led by the Office for the Senior Citizens Affairs, headed by Eduardo Torres. The office is responsible for coordinating the initiative, which has been crucial in helping seniors access the support they need. The program is not only about financial assistance but also about promoting health and well-being among the elderly population.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that one of his administration’s top priorities is ensuring the welfare of senior citizens. This initiative, which has been ongoing since his tenure, is designed to ease the financial burden of senior citizens while also addressing health concerns. The distribution of Vitamin C supplements aims to boost their immunity and overall health.
The ₱1,000 cash assistance and Vitamin C distribution have been provided to senior citizens in previous years as well. In 2023, for instance, 48,439 senior citizens benefited from this program, while in 2022, 40,159 received the aid. The consistent support for seniors has helped alleviate financial difficulties and improve their quality of life.
In addition to providing immediate relief, the program is a part of the city’s long-term efforts to ensure that senior citizens remain healthy, active, and supported by their community. Mayor Lazatin reiterated his dedication to continuing this initiative for years to come, ensuring that the elderly are never left behind.
The city government’s assistance to senior citizens underscores its dedication to improving the lives of its residents, particularly those who are most in need. As the distribution continues across Angeles City, the program remains an essential part of the local government’s ongoing social services for its elderly population.
