ANGELES CITY – On February 15, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. authorized the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to conduct fumigation operations at Tacondo Elementary School. This is part of the city’s efforts to combat the growing threat of dengue fever and ensure the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and school staff.
The fumigation is part of the city’s larger 4S strategy to tackle dengue. This strategy includes measures such as “Search and Destroy” of mosquito breeding sites, encouraging “Self Protection Measures,” advising residents to “Seek Early Consultation” if symptoms appear, and promoting “Say Yes to Fogging” in cases of outbreaks. These actions are designed to reduce mosquito populations and prevent the spread of the disease.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel is overseeing the fumigation efforts at the school, with support from Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Chief Irish Bonus-Llego. Their coordination ensures that the fumigation is thorough and effective, helping to eliminate any potential dengue-carrying mosquitoes in the area.
Mayor Lazatin highlighted the importance of this proactive approach, underscoring that the health and safety of children are paramount. “We are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment in all our schools. This fumigation is one of the many actions we’re taking to safeguard the future of our youth,” he said. This effort at Tacondo Elementary is one of several fumigation activities planned for other public schools in the city.
Aside from fumigation, the city is launching an awareness campaign aimed at educating the public about dengue prevention. Residents are being urged to dispose of standing water, use mosquito repellents, and take other precautionary steps to reduce the risk of infection. The city’s goal is to involve the entire community in preventing the spread of dengue.
Following the successful fumigation at Tacondo Elementary, similar operations will be conducted across various public schools in Angeles City. These efforts are part of a larger strategy to ensure that all educational institutions are free of dengue risks, creating a safer environment for both students and educators.
Through continued fumigation, public education, and proactive measures, the city government, under Mayor Lazatin’s leadership, aims to significantly reduce dengue cases in Angeles City. The ultimate goal is to maintain a clean, healthy community and protect all Angeleños from the dangers of this infectious disease.
