ANGELES CITY – On February 15, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. ordered fumigation operations at Anunas Elementary School as part of the city’s continuous efforts to combat dengue fever. The fumigation is aimed at protecting students, teachers, and staff from the risks associated with the disease, ensuring that the school environment remains safe and healthy.
This fumigation activity is a key component of the city’s 4S strategy against dengue, which includes the principles of “Search and Destroy” to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, promoting “Self Protection Measures” among residents, encouraging people to “Seek Early Consultation” if symptoms arise, and supporting “Say Yes to Fogging” when outbreaks occur. These efforts are designed to keep mosquito populations in check and reduce the spread of the virus.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel is overseeing the fumigation operation at Anunas Elementary, with coordination from Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Chief Irish Bonus-Llego. Their role ensures that the fumigation is conducted thoroughly and effectively, helping to eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites within the school.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of these preventative measures and stressed the city’s commitment to protecting the health of the community, especially the children. “Fumigation is just one of the many actions we’re taking to safeguard our schools and ensure the safety of our students and faculty,” the mayor stated. The fumigation at Anunas Elementary School is part of a series of similar initiatives planned for other public schools in Angeles City.
Alongside fumigation efforts, the city is launching awareness campaigns to educate residents about dengue prevention. The public is encouraged to eliminate stagnant water, wear protective clothing, and take additional steps to prevent mosquito bites. These initiatives are vital in reducing the risk of dengue outbreaks in the city.
Following the fumigation at Anunas Elementary School, similar operations will be carried out across other public schools in Angeles City. These efforts are part of the city’s larger campaign to ensure that educational institutions remain free from dengue hazards, creating a safer environment for everyone in the community.
The city government’s commitment to fighting dengue, under the leadership of Mayor Lazatin, reflects its dedication to public health and safety. By combining fumigation, education, and community involvement, the city aims to significantly reduce the number of dengue cases and promote a cleaner, healthier environment for all Angeleños.
