Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. officially launched the distribution of free school supplies on October 29, 2024, starting with the students of Belen Homesite Elementary School. The initiative aims to provide essential educational items to public school students in the city, marking a significant step toward supporting quality and accessible education for all youth in Angeles City. The distribution included shoes, socks, t-shirts, bags, and school supplies for the students.
Accompanying Mayor Lazatin during the event were Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, City Councilors, and several key local officials, including Atty. Arvin Suller, Jesus Sangil, Crisanto Cortez, Alexander Indiongco, Edu Pamintuan, Marino Bañola, Dan Lacson, JC Aguas, and Raco Del Rosario. The presence of these local leaders underscored the collaborative effort in ensuring the success of the distribution and the broader goal of supporting education in the city.
This distribution is part of a broader initiative where approximately 93,000 pairs of shoes, t-shirts, bags, and other school supplies will be delivered across the city’s 56 public schools. The program is designed to benefit students of all grade levels, with Mayor Lazatin personally overseeing the handout, ensuring that each school receives the necessary items to support students’ educational needs.
The distribution is taking place in a scheduled manner, with plans for it to continue in various schools across the city. The effort is being supervised by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, who are working with the Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office, led by Irish Bonus-Llego, to organize the logistics and ensure smooth operations during the distribution process.
Assisting with the distribution were members of the City Nutrition Office, which collaborated with the local government to ensure that all public school students received the necessary school supplies. The coordination between various city departments reflects the city’s commitment to improving the quality of education and overall welfare of its young learners.
A key aspect of Mayor Lazatin’s administration is his commitment to accessible education for every Angeleño youth. As part of his inaugural promises, he reiterated that no student in Angeles City would be left behind in terms of educational opportunities, stating, “No Angeleño youth will be left behind in terms of education.” This school supply distribution is just one example of his ongoing efforts to fulfill this promise.
Also present at the distribution were members of the Barangay Sto. Cristo Council, led by Captain Lourdes Manansala, further emphasizing the community-wide support for the program. With the combined efforts of local officials, barangay leaders, and city departments, the event marked a successful step forward in supporting public school students and enhancing educational opportunities in Angeles City.
