On February 12, 2025, 61 differently-abled individuals from Barangay Sta. Teresita received P1,000 in cash assistance and five kilos of rice each through a house-to-house visit organized by Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. The initiative aimed to support the community of persons with disabilities (PWDs), offering financial relief and food assistance to those in need.
Mayor Lazatin was accompanied by members of the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), led by Ryan David, during the distribution. Their participation ensured that the distribution was smooth and effective, helping to provide aid to the targeted individuals. PDAO’s involvement in organizing and overseeing the distribution further emphasized the city’s commitment to serving its PWD community.
Ryan David, head of the PDAO, highlighted that this is not the first time Mayor Lazatin has provided such assistance. The mayor has consistently supported the differently-abled sector, making sure that they receive the necessary aid to improve their living conditions. David noted that this ongoing support is a key part of the city’s efforts to uplift vulnerable citizens.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the welfare of persons with disabilities has always been a priority for his administration. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to improving the lives of all residents, regardless of their physical challenges. Through this initiative, the mayor reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that no one is left behind in the city’s progress.
This distribution is part of a larger-scale effort to support the differently-abled residents of Angeles City. A total of 2,500 PWDs are set to receive the same assistance, including P1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice each. This large-scale effort underscores the city’s long-term vision of creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all of its residents.
The cash and rice aid provided significant relief to the beneficiaries, many of whom face financial challenges due to their disabilities. The rice subsidy, in particular, helps ensure that the individuals have enough to meet their basic nutritional needs. The financial assistance is a vital lifeline for those who rely on external support for their daily needs.
The continuous commitment of Mayor Lazatin and his team to the PWD community highlights the city’s dedication to inclusivity. As the distribution effort continues, the city is sending a clear message that it will not only address the immediate needs of its differently-abled residents but also invest in their long-term welfare. The program reflects a vision for a more accessible and compassionate Angeles City.
