On February 10, 2025, 72 differently-abled individuals from Barangay Tabun received a significant boost in support from the Angeles City Government. Each recipient was granted P1,000 in cash assistance and five kilos of rice through a house-to-house distribution initiative. The event was led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., who was accompanied by key members of the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO).
During the distribution, Mayor Lazatin was assisted by Ryan David, the head of the PDAO, who oversaw the smooth operation of the aid delivery. David emphasized that this initiative was part of the city’s ongoing efforts to support the differently-abled community. He pointed out that it was not the first time the city had provided such assistance to persons with disabilities (PWDs) under the leadership of Mayor Lazatin.
The mayor’s continuous support for the PWD sector has been evident through various programs and activities aimed at improving their quality of life. Mayor Lazatin, recognizing the challenges faced by differently-abled individuals, has made their welfare one of his administration’s primary priorities. This initiative was a clear example of his commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in the city’s progress.
In total, the city government has planned to distribute the same support to a larger group of 2,500 differently-abled Angeleños. Each recipient will receive P1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice to help alleviate the economic challenges they face. This extensive outreach aims to bring immediate relief to the PWD community, especially during these difficult times.
The distribution of aid was done directly at the residences of the beneficiaries, highlighting the city government’s proactive approach in reaching out to its citizens. By opting for a house-to-house visit, the local government ensured that the assistance reached the intended recipients without any barriers, especially for those who may have difficulty traveling to distribution centers.
Mayor Lazatin’s efforts, together with the support from the PDAO, have been instrumental in creating a more inclusive environment for the differently-abled population of Angeles City. These initiatives not only provide material support but also send a strong message of solidarity and care for one of the most vulnerable sectors of society.
The distribution event has been praised by local residents, with many expressing their gratitude for the consistent support they receive from the city government. As the mayor continues to prioritize the welfare of persons with disabilities, the city of Angeles looks forward to more initiatives that will contribute to the empowerment and well-being of its differently-abled citizens.
