On February 12, 2025, a total of 35 differently-abled individuals from Barangay Claro M. Recto received P1,000 cash assistance and five kilos of rice each, thanks to a house-to-house visit by Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. The distribution aimed to provide support to individuals with disabilities in the community, ensuring they have access to much-needed resources.
Mayor Lazatin was joined by the members of the Barangay Claro M. Recto Council, led by Barangay Captain Alexander De Guzman, during the distribution event. The teamwork between the local government officials and the Barangay Council was instrumental in ensuring that the beneficiaries received their aid smoothly and efficiently.
The Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), headed by Ryan David, also played a crucial role in assisting during the distribution process. Their efforts helped to ensure that the aid reached those who needed it most. According to David, this initiative is just one of many efforts by the city government to assist the differently-abled sector.
Mayor Lazatin expressed that the welfare of persons with disabilities (PWDs) has always been one of his administration’s top priorities. He emphasized that his commitment to the PWD community would remain strong, and he will continue to work towards improving their quality of life. The mayor’s actions underline his dedication to making sure that vulnerable sectors in the city are well-supported.
This distribution event is part of a larger initiative by the Angeles City government, which plans to provide P1,000 in cash assistance and five kilos of rice to a total of 2,500 differently-abled residents. This widespread distribution reflects the city’s ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all its citizens, especially those facing physical challenges.
With the financial assistance, many of the differently-abled residents are relieved of some of their burdens, especially in terms of daily necessities such as food. The rice subsidy, in particular, will help ensure that these individuals can have access to basic staples without financial strain.
Mayor Lazatin’s continuous dedication to the PWD community highlights his strong belief in equal opportunities for all citizens. The distribution of financial aid and rice subsidies is expected to have a positive impact on the well-being of many differently-abled Angeleños, helping them to live with greater dignity and independence.
