In a continued effort to prioritize animal welfare, the Angeles City Government, through its City Veterinary Office, provided free anti-rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats in Barangay Salapungan on February 13, 2025. This initiative is part of a broader vaccination campaign across the city, aimed at safeguarding both pets and the community from the threat of rabies.
The program is being led by Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla, head of the City Veterinary Office, which has set up a vaccination schedule across the city’s 33 barangays. This citywide initiative seeks to ensure that as many pets as possible receive the necessary vaccination to prevent rabies, a deadly disease that poses a risk to both animals and humans.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, a known animal lover, shared that this free vaccination program has been a part of the city’s efforts ever since Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. took office. The initiative is also supervised by the Mayor’s Chief Adviser, IC Calaguas. Through this program, the city government hopes to ensure that pets are protected and that residents understand the importance of responsible pet ownership.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the city government’s efforts are focused on promoting responsible pet care, which includes ensuring that pets are vaccinated regularly to prevent the spread of diseases like rabies. He urged all pet owners in the city to take advantage of the free vaccination program available in their respective barangays.
“Nanawagan po ako sa lahat ng mga pet owners na pabakunahan ang kanilang mga alagang hayop sa gagawing Bakuna sa Barangay para sa mga alagang aso at pusa,” Mayor Lazatin stated, encouraging residents to make sure their pets are vaccinated. He added that these efforts are part of the city’s larger campaign to ensure the health and safety of both pets and people.
In addition to the rabies vaccination, the city’s veterinary office is also providing guidance to pet owners on how to properly care for their animals, ensuring that all pets in Angeles City lead healthy lives. The ongoing vaccination program is seen as a key component in improving the overall quality of life for pets and ensuring public health.
The city government’s focus on animal welfare through these free vaccination initiatives not only helps protect pets but also contributes to the health and safety of the community. By encouraging responsible pet ownership, the city aims to prevent the spread of rabies and other diseases, while fostering a compassionate environment for all residents.
