On March 4, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. directed the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to carry out fumigation activities in Barangay Lourdes Sur as part of the city’s ongoing effort to combat dengue. This initiative is part of the city’s broader strategy to protect residents from the mosquito-borne disease and prevent a potential outbreak in the area.
The fumigation effort is a key component of the city’s 4S strategy, which stands for Search and Destroy, Self-Protection Measures, Seek Early Consultation, and Say Yes to Fogging in case of an outbreak. Through this comprehensive approach, local authorities aim to address and control the breeding of mosquitoes that spread the deadly dengue virus.
Fumigation, which involves the use of insecticides to eliminate adult mosquitoes, will be carried out not only in Barangay Lourdes Sur but also in other barangays across the city. This citywide effort reflects the seriousness with which the local government is addressing the growing threat of dengue fever. The fumigation activities are intended to reduce mosquito populations and protect residents from potential outbreaks.
Residents of Barangay Lourdes Sur were informed ahead of time about the fumigation schedule and were urged to cooperate with the efforts by staying indoors and ensuring that their homes are prepared for the fumigation process. The local government has emphasized the importance of community participation in the fight against dengue, noting that individual actions such as eliminating standing water in their surroundings can significantly reduce mosquito breeding sites.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated that the health and safety of the residents are top priorities, and the fumigation is just one part of a larger public health campaign to keep the city safe from mosquito-borne diseases. He encouraged the public to follow the 4S strategy to prevent the spread of dengue and other similar illnesses.
In addition to fumigation, the city government is also conducting an information campaign to educate residents on the symptoms of dengue and the importance of seeking early medical attention. Officials have warned that early detection and consultation are crucial in preventing the disease from worsening.
As the fumigation efforts continue in other barangays, the Angeles City government is committed to protecting its residents from the dangers of dengue fever. With the combined efforts of local authorities and the community, the city hopes to effectively reduce the risk of outbreaks and promote a healthier environment for all.
