On January 25, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. instructed the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to carry out fumigation at Rafael Lazatin Memorial Senior High School as part of the city’s efforts to prevent the spread of dengue. The fumigation is a proactive measure aimed at reducing the presence of mosquitoes and safeguarding the health of students and school staff.
The fumigation is part of the city’s 4S strategy, which includes searching and destroying mosquito breeding sites, promoting self-protection measures, seeking early consultation for symptoms, and agreeing to fogging when necessary. This comprehensive approach is designed to curb the spread of dengue, particularly in school settings where students are at higher risk of being exposed.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel is overseeing the fumigation operation at the school, ensuring that it is carried out effectively. She is working alongside Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Chief Irish Bonus-Llego, who is also helping coordinate the effort to ensure its success.
This fumigation activity follows a city-wide initiative to protect residents, especially students, from the growing threat of dengue outbreaks. With the rainy season heightening the risk of mosquito breeding, the city government is taking swift action to prevent the disease from affecting the community.
In addition to the fumigation at Rafael Lazatin Memorial Senior High School, the city government is extending its fumigation efforts to other public schools throughout Angeles City. The goal is to cover as many schools as possible, ensuring that students can continue their education in a safe and healthy environment.
Mayor Lazatin’s directive underscores his commitment to public health and safety. By focusing on the prevention of dengue, the city government aims to provide students and educators with a safe space to learn and work, free from the threat of mosquito-borne diseases.
As the fumigation efforts continue, the Angeles City Government encourages residents and school communities to support the 4S strategy by eliminating mosquito breeding sites around their homes and schools. The collective effort of the city’s residents is crucial in reducing the risk of dengue and ensuring a healthy, safe community for all.
