On January 7, 2025, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. directed the members of the Angeles City Barangay Outreach to conduct fumigation in Barangay Pampang as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to combat the spread of dengue. The fumigation aims to target areas where mosquitoes, the primary carriers of the disease, are prevalent.
The city’s response to the dengue threat is guided by the 4S strategy, which stands for “search and destroy,” “self-protection measures,” “seek early consultation,” and “say yes to fogging in case of outbreak.” This comprehensive approach aims to reduce mosquito breeding sites and protect residents from the risks of dengue transmission.
Fumigation is a key component of the city’s efforts to prevent the spread of dengue, a mosquito-borne disease that poses significant health risks, particularly in tropical areas like Angeles City. The fumigation process targets mosquito hotspots and aims to reduce the number of mosquitoes in the area, thereby minimizing the risk of an outbreak.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of this proactive approach, urging residents to cooperate with the fumigation efforts and follow the health protocols in place. The city’s Barangay Outreach team is working closely with local officials to ensure the fumigation reaches the most affected areas, effectively reducing the mosquito population.
In addition to fumigation, the city government has been promoting the 4S strategy as part of its ongoing dengue prevention campaign. This initiative encourages residents to actively search for and destroy mosquito breeding grounds, practice personal protection measures, and seek medical consultation at the earliest signs of illness.
The city government has also announced plans to extend fumigation activities to other barangays in the coming weeks. This will ensure that dengue prevention efforts are expanded throughout the city, targeting all potential areas where mosquitoes may breed.
As the fumigation activities in Barangay Pampang continue, Mayor Lazatin reiterated the importance of community participation in the fight against dengue. He called on residents to take proactive steps in eliminating mosquito breeding grounds in their homes and to adhere to the 4S strategy to protect their health and prevent further outbreaks.
