ANGELES CITY — In anticipation of the surge of activity during Holy Week, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has ordered the city-wide deployment of emergency services to ensure public safety under OPLAN SUMVAC 2025. The initiative, aligned with the national effort to assist travelers and pilgrims during the Lenten season, focuses on swift emergency response and traffic management.
Mayor Lazatin tasked the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), headed by Rudy Simeon, to station ambulances and medical personnel in four strategic areas throughout the city. These locations were carefully selected to ensure rapid access to critical zones with high foot and vehicle traffic during the Holy Week.
The designated ambulance outposts are located at Caltex Gas Station in Barangay Pulung Cacutud, the stoplight area of Barangay Pulungbulu, the vicinity of BPI in Barangay Balibago, and the outpost near Burger King in Barangay Anunas. These points allow ACDRRMO teams to maintain a 10 to 15-minute emergency response time.
“We’ve also assigned more traffic enforcers to assist motorists, especially during the peak of the Holy Week activities,” Mayor Lazatin shared. “Our goal is to ensure a safe and smooth journey for everyone visiting churches, participating in processions, or heading home for the holidays.”
In support of this directive, Mayor Lazatin met with Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, ACDRRMO Head Rudy Simeon, ABC President and Sta. Trinidad Punong Barangay Dan Nacu, and Pampang Punong Barangay Carlos Dela Cruz to finalize deployment logistics and inter-agency coordination.
OPLAN SUMVAC 2025 will remain in full effect until 8:00 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, ensuring that both residents and tourists are well-supported throughout the long weekend.
This proactive approach by Mayor Lazatin continues to reflect the city’s dedication to public safety and disaster preparedness, especially during major religious and cultural observances.
