On January 15, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. officially inaugurated two additional computer laboratories at the Governor Rafael Lazatin Integrated School in Barangay Sapalibutad. This marks another significant step in the city’s ongoing efforts to improve educational facilities and provide students with better access to modern technology.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, members of the City Council, department heads, and officials from the Department of Education – Angeles City. These newly inaugurated labs are the fifth and sixth computer facilities opened this year as part of the city’s ICT Modernization Program.
The opening of these two computer labs follows the inauguration of two more labs at Sapangbato National High School and Malabanias Integrated School just the day before. With these recent openings, a total of six new computer laboratories have been added to local public schools. Mayor Lazatin is also set to inaugurate three additional computer labs at the Rafael Lazatin Memorial High School in Barangay Balibago on January 16, 2025.
With the completion of these new facilities, 16 state-of-the-art computer labs are now fully operational under Mayor Lazatin’s leadership. Each lab is equipped with 40 computers, computer tables, chairs, printers, air conditioning units, smart televisions, and fiber-optic internet connections, ensuring that students have access to cutting-edge technology to enhance their learning experience.
The ICT Modernization Program is aimed at improving the student-to-computer ratio in the city’s public schools and enhancing digital learning opportunities for students. Mayor Lazatin emphasized that these facilities are part of his administration’s commitment to providing quality education that aligns with the needs of the digital age.
In his remarks during the inauguration, Mayor Lazatin expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the program, stating that these computer labs will help empower students by giving them the tools they need to succeed in a technology-driven world. He also highlighted the importance of equipping schools with the best possible resources to help students achieve academic excellence.
As the city continues to expand this program, more schools are set to benefit from the improvements in educational infrastructure. The new computer labs stand as a testament to the city’s dedication to providing a high standard of education and preparing students for future challenges.
