On January 23, 2025, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., successfully distributed livelihood assistance to 100 residents from the 33 barangays. The distribution event, held under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) program, provided each beneficiary with P15,000 in financial aid.
The distribution was led by Public Employment and Services Officer Ferdinand Calma, who represented Mayor Lazatin. He was assisted by former Angeles City Public Cemetery Head, Philip Samson, during the handover of the livelihood aid. The assistance aims to provide residents with resources to start or improve their small businesses, fostering economic growth and self-sufficiency within the community.
The livelihood assistance program is part of the city government’s commitment to empowering its residents and providing them with the tools to improve their lives. Mayor Lazatin’s leadership has focused on supporting livelihood opportunities for Angeleños, helping them build sustainable sources of income.
Beneficiaries, coming from diverse backgrounds across the city’s barangays, expressed their gratitude for the aid. Many shared how this financial support would significantly impact their ability to either kickstart their businesses or expand existing ventures. This initiative highlights the city’s focus on inclusive growth and helping marginalized communities.
Calma, during the event, emphasized that this distribution is only one aspect of the city government’s ongoing effort to assist residents. He reiterated that livelihood programs play a crucial role in helping families become financially independent and create long-term opportunities for themselves.
The city’s Public Employment and Services Office has been at the forefront of ensuring that these programs reach those in need. Through consistent collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment, the city aims to provide comprehensive support for its citizens, not only in times of crisis but also in regular efforts to stimulate economic growth.
As the city continues to prioritize its citizens’ welfare, this distribution serves as a testament to the local government’s commitment to improving the standard of living for all Angeleños and ensuring access to opportunities for personal and community development.
