The meeting, held at the Mayor’s Office, reflected the city’s proactive support for community-led religious and cultural events.
Barangay Captain Nicanor Soriano led the Lourdes Northwest delegation and took the opportunity to brief Mayor Lazatin on the details of their planned Holy Week activities. These events are expected to draw large crowds, not just from the barangay, but also from neighboring communities, in observance of this important religious tradition.
Joining Mayor Lazatin during the discussion were Angeles City Councilors Atty. Arvin Suller and Jesus Sangil, who both expressed support for the barangay’s initiatives. Their presence reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with barangay leaders in ensuring the success and safety of community events.
Soriano outlined the various Semana Santa activities, including processions and religious gatherings, and emphasized the need for logistical support and coordination from the city to ensure a peaceful and organized celebration.
Mayor Lazatin welcomed the updates and assured Soriano and his council of the city’s full assistance. He emphasized the importance of preserving religious and cultural traditions, while also ensuring the safety and orderliness of public gatherings.
Also captured in the meeting was City Tourism Officer Anneleen Sugui, whose presence indicated the city’s interest in promoting local traditions as part of its cultural tourism efforts. The tourism office is expected to help in the promotion and organization of the events.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment between city officials and Barangay Lourdes Northwest to make this year’s Semana Santa meaningful and safe for all participants. Through cooperation and coordination, the city aims to support faith-based events that continue to shape the cultural identity of Angeleños.
