On February 11, 2025, a total of 43 differently-abled individuals from Barangay Lourdes Sur were recipients of cash assistance and rice subsidies from Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. The mayor personally visited their homes, providing each individual with P1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to support persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The distribution of the aid was made possible through the collaboration with the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), which is headed by Ryan David. David, who assisted Mayor Lazatin during the distribution, confirmed that this initiative is not the first time the mayor has extended such financial support to PWDs. He emphasized that helping the differently-abled community has always been a priority for the mayor.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated his commitment to improving the welfare of PWDs in the city. He emphasized that this financial and rice assistance is part of a larger, ongoing initiative to provide meaningful support to Angeleños with disabilities, ensuring that their needs are addressed in times of difficulty.
This distribution is part of a citywide program targeting 2,500 differently-abled individuals, with each set to receive P1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice. The assistance aims to alleviate the financial burden on PWDs and provide a crucial food subsidy in light of rising living expenses.
The house-to-house distribution method was chosen to ensure that the aid reached those who may have difficulty traveling to a central location. This approach not only ensured convenience for the recipients but also made the process more accessible for those with mobility challenges.
Ryan David praised the mayor for his continued efforts to support the PWD sector, noting that these initiatives are a testament to the city’s dedication to inclusivity and the well-being of its most vulnerable residents. The ongoing support from the city government has been a lifeline for many in the PWD community, ensuring that they have access to vital resources.
In closing, Mayor Lazatin assured the public that the city government would continue to prioritize the welfare of PWDs and other marginalized sectors. He reaffirmed that the financial and rice subsidies are just one aspect of the city’s comprehensive support programs aimed at improving the lives of all Angeleños.
