The livelihood support program was made possible through a partnership between the Angeles City government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Each beneficiary was given P15,000 in financial aid, which is intended to help them start or improve small-scale businesses, such as farming, trading, or handicrafts. The financial assistance is part of a comprehensive package to provide economic opportunities for the community.
Mayor Lazatin was joined by key figures during the assistance distribution, including Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso. Their presence highlighted the strong collaboration between the city government and other stakeholders to provide vital services to the residents of Angeles City, particularly those from marginalized groups.
Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) were also present at the event, including Social Welfare Officer III Kate Kathleen Santos-David and City-link Faustino Dungca II. Their participation underscored the importance of government agencies working together to address the needs of local communities, especially those in need of assistance.
This livelihood program is part of the local government’s ongoing efforts to foster inclusivity and ensure that indigenous groups have equal access to resources and opportunities. Mayor Lazatin stressed that these programs would continue, not only to assist the Aeta community but also to empower other marginalized groups in the city.
Through this initiative, Mayor Lazatin aims to create a more sustainable and self-sufficient environment for the Aeta community, enabling them to thrive and contribute further to the growth of Angeles City. The mayor’s efforts reflect the city’s commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and social welfare for all of its citizens.
