The Angeles City government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., has announced an extension for the payment of business taxes and the renewal of business permits without penalties until February 20, 2025. The decision was formalized through Resolution No. 11634, S-2025, signed by Vice Mayor Ma. Vicenta Vega-Cabigting.
The resolution, which was primarily sponsored by City Councilors Atty. Arvin Suller and Alexander Indiongco, aims to provide local business owners with more time to comply with the necessary requirements for the renewal of their permits. Other council members, including Edgardo Pamintuan Jr., Jesus Sangil, Marino Bañola, Danilo Lacson, and JC Aguas, also supported the extension.
Mayor Lazatin strongly encouraged the City Council to approve the extension, highlighting the importance of supporting local businesses, which play a vital role in the city’s growth and economic development. “This is part of our government’s support to the business sector, which is essential to the continued progress of Angeles City,” the Mayor stated.
As of January 16, 2025, the Business Permit and Licensing Division (BPLD), led by Enrico Romero, reported a total of 9,474 business renewal applications, with 3,376 permits—around 35.6%—already issued. Romero expressed optimism that the extension would lead to a significant increase in permit renewals as the deadline approaches.
Romero assured that the renewal process would remain efficient, as well as the issuance of new business permits. “The process will remain fast and smooth for both renewal and new applications, ensuring that our local businesses continue to thrive,” he said, emphasizing the city’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs.
The BPLD office, located at the Angeles City Hall Building in Pulung Maragul, will continue to process business permit renewals. Applicants are reminded to submit essential documents, including Barangay Clearance, Basis for Computing Taxes (Business Capitalization), and Community Tax Certificate. The Barangay Clearance requirement is now integrated into the BPLD process unless an occupancy permit is required.
Romero also assured applicants that the city’s goal is to make the renewal and issuance of permits as convenient and efficient as possible to avoid delays in the business sector and maintain a smooth flow of the local economy. By streamlining the process, Mayor Lazatin and the BPLD aim to further boost the city’s economic growth and support its business community.
