ANGELES CITY — In a meaningful gesture of support, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. personally visited 79 differently-abled individuals in Barangay Lourdes Northwest on February 13, 2025, to distribute financial aid and rice subsidies. Each recipient received P1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice as part of the city’s ongoing assistance programs for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The distribution was conducted through a house-to-house visit, ensuring that the aid reached the beneficiaries directly at their homes. The initiative was organized by the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), led by Ryan David, who has been working alongside the mayor’s office to ensure the welfare of PWDs in Angeles City.
David mentioned that this initiative is part of a broader, ongoing effort by Mayor Lazatin to support the differently-abled community. He emphasized that this is not the first time the mayor has provided such assistance, highlighting the consistent efforts to uplift the lives of PWDs in the city.
“The welfare of our differently-abled citizens has always been a priority for Mayor Lazatin,” David shared. He further explained that the mayor’s commitment to improving the quality of life for PWDs is reflected in the continued support and resources provided to them.
This particular aid distribution is part of a larger initiative aimed at reaching a total of 2,500 differently-abled Angeleños. Each beneficiary will receive the same amount of assistance, including the P1,000 cash aid and five kilos of rice, in a bid to help them meet their daily needs.
Mayor Lazatin’s efforts come as part of the city’s wider social welfare programs, which prioritize vulnerable sectors in the community. By providing financial support and essential goods, the mayor hopes to alleviate some of the financial challenges that differently-abled individuals face, especially in these difficult times.
Through these initiatives, the mayor reaffirms his commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all residents of Angeles City. The distribution of assistance is a clear reflection of the city’s values of compassion, empathy, and community care.
