Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. announced that Barangay Mining, led by Barangay Captain Lester Hernandez, will receive a ₱100,000 incentive in recognition of their outstanding achievement in earning the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB). This prestigious award, granted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), is a symbol of excellence in local governance.
Barangay Mining is one of only 193 barangays in Central Luzon to receive the SGLGB out of 3,102 barangays in the region. The recognition highlights the barangay’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and providing excellent public service to its residents. The award acknowledges the barangay’s efforts in maintaining high standards of governance.
“This incentive is a gesture of appreciation for the hard work and dedication of Barangay Mining,” Mayor Lazatin said. “Their integrity and efficiency in serving the people reflect the values we hold dear in Angeles City.” He further commended Captain Hernandez and the entire team for their unwavering commitment to good governance.
The SGLGB is awarded to barangays that meet strict criteria in key areas such as financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, and environmental management. Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the award represents the culmination of consistent efforts by Barangay Mining to ensure effective and responsive local governance.
In congratulating Barangay Mining, Mayor Lazatin expressed that their achievement is a testament to their commitment to public service. “We are proud of this recognition, which mirrors our shared vision of good governance in Angeles City,” he added. He encouraged all barangays in the city to strive for excellence in local governance and continue to deliver outstanding service to their constituents.
The ₱100,000 incentive will be used to further enhance the programs and services in Barangay Mining, ensuring continued progress and fostering further improvements in governance. This initiative underscores Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to supporting grassroots governance and empowering barangays in their mission of service.
Mayor Lazatin’s leadership continues to set a high standard for local governance, and the recognition of Barangay Mining is just one example of how effective leadership at the grassroots level can improve the overall well-being of the community.
