With only four months remaining in his term, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. is marking a significant milestone in the city’s urban development by launching its first-ever medium-rise socialized housing project. The P2-billion development will provide 2,450 affordable housing units, helping address the growing demand for accessible homes in the city.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that this project is more than just a new infrastructure project; it represents the fulfillment of a long-standing promise to provide dignified housing for the people of Angeles City. The initiative reflects his commitment to improving the quality of life for Angeleños, particularly those in need of affordable shelter.
The project, which draws inspiration from the leadership of his late father, Mayor and Congressman Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, is a testament to the family’s continued dedication to serving the city’s residents. Mayor Lazatin credited his father for inspiring this drive to make housing more accessible to Angeleños, a goal that he has worked toward during his time in office.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Lazatin also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various city offices that helped make the project a reality. These include the Angeles City Human Settlements and Urban Development Office (ACHSUDO), led by City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller, and key officials from the City Engineer’s Office, City Planning and Development Office, and the Local Finance Committee, among others.
The mayor also expressed his gratitude to his executive team, particularly Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, along with the staff members who have worked tirelessly to make this project happen. “This is a promise fulfilled,” Lazatin said. “I dedicate this project to the people of Angeles City who have placed their trust in me.”
As the project progresses, it will contribute to the national housing agenda of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD). The housing development is a key part of the government’s broader effort to provide affordable and sustainable housing solutions to Filipino families across the country.
This groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter in Angeles City’s growth, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable urban development. Mayor Lazatin is determined to leave a lasting legacy of progress, ensuring that more families in the city will have access to safe, affordable homes in the years to come.
