On January 8, 2025, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., commenced the house-to-house distribution of P3,000 financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to 20 bedridden senior citizens and three elderly residents aged 90-99 years old in Barangay Pampang. The distribution aimed to directly assist some of the city’s most vulnerable residents.
Mayor Lazatin was joined by City Councilor Dr. Mich Bonifacio and Barangay Pampang officials, including Captain Carlos Dela Cruz, during the distribution process. The collaboration between the city government and barangay officials ensures that the aid reaches those who need it most.
The city’s initiative will benefit a total of 664 bedridden senior citizens and 612 elderly citizens between the ages of 90 and 99 across the 33 barangays of Angeles City. Along with the financial assistance, the recipients will also receive essential Vitamin C supplements to support their health and well-being.
In addition to the cash aid and Vitamin C, the city government will also provide free medical check-ups and laboratory tests for these elderly residents, as part of a broader initiative to ensure their health and safety. The City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office are coordinating these healthcare services.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that prioritizing the needs of bedridden elderly citizens and those in the 90-99 age range is a key focus of his administration. “We are committed to ensuring our senior citizens receive the care and attention they need,” he remarked.
The distribution was carried out by the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, headed by Eduardo Torres. This initiative, according to Torres, has been ongoing since 2019, when Mayor Lazatin first assumed office. It was under his leadership that registered seniors began receiving both cash assistance and Vitamin C supplements, which are helping to improve their overall health.
Throughout his tenure, Mayor Lazatin has made the welfare of the elderly a top priority. This latest initiative serves as another example of his dedication to supporting the city’s senior citizens and ensuring they have the resources needed for a healthy and dignified life.
