On January 21, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. ordered the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to conduct a fumigation drive in Barangay Margot as part of ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of dengue. This initiative is part of the city’s comprehensive strategy to control and reduce the incidence of the mosquito-borne disease.
The fumigation in Barangay Margot is part of the city’s implementation of the 4S strategy against dengue. This strategy includes four key steps: search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, practice self-protection measures, seek early consultation if symptoms arise, and say yes to fogging during outbreaks. The aim is to prevent the spread of dengue and protect the residents of Angeles City.
According to Mayor Lazatin, the fumigation activity is vital in reducing the mosquito population and curbing the spread of dengue fever. The fumigation is being carried out in key areas within Barangay Margot to eliminate mosquito larvae and reduce the risk of dengue outbreaks in the community.
In addition to the fumigation in Barangay Margot, the city government has announced that similar fumigation activities will be conducted across other barangays in Angeles City. The city aims to ensure that all high-risk areas are addressed, and the population is protected from the dangers of dengue.
Mayor Lazatin also encouraged residents to take proactive measures in keeping their surroundings clean and free from potential mosquito breeding grounds. Simple practices like covering water containers, disposing of old tires, and ensuring proper drainage can help reduce the spread of the disease.
The city government continues to work closely with local health authorities to monitor the situation and take necessary precautions. By actively engaging the community and encouraging participation in the 4S strategy, the city hopes to control the spread of dengue and minimize its impact on public health.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that public cooperation is crucial in the success of these efforts. The fumigation, alongside other preventive measures, will play a key role in ensuring the health and safety of the residents in Angeles City.
