On January 22, 2025, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., began the house-to-house distribution of P3,000 in financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to bedridden senior citizens and those aged 90-99 years old in Barangay Cutud. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing commitment to prioritize the welfare of its elderly residents.
Accompanied by members of the Barangay Cutud Council, led by Captain Jesusito Masbang, Mayor Lazatin personally oversaw the distribution to 17 bedridden seniors and four elderly residents aged 90-99 years old. The distribution is part of a broader effort that will reach a total of 664 bedridden senior citizens and 612 seniors aged 90-99 from all 33 barangays across the city.
In addition to the cash assistance and Vitamin C supplements, the elderly recipients will also receive free medical check-ups and laboratory tests provided by the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. These services aim to ensure that the elderly citizens are in good health and receive the care they need.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that this initiative is a continuation of his administration’s efforts to support and prioritize the needs of bedridden and elderly residents. He stated that ensuring the well-being of the elderly is one of his administration’s top priorities and that these efforts are part of a broader program of support for the senior citizen population.
The distribution was coordinated by the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), headed by Eduardo Torres, who also led the initiative. Torres noted that this program has been in place since 2019 when Mayor Lazatin assumed office. It was under his leadership that the city began providing both cash aid and Vitamin C supplements to registered senior citizens, a move that has greatly benefited the elderly population.
This assistance program is just one of the many initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for senior citizens in Angeles City. By offering financial support, healthcare, and necessary supplements, the city is ensuring that the elderly receive the care and attention they deserve.
Mayor Lazatin’s focus on the elderly continues to be a central theme of his administration. He remains committed to providing essential services and resources to improve the lives of Angeles City’s senior citizens, ensuring they remain healthy, supported, and respected.
