The Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., launched a house-to-house distribution of P3,000 in financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to 20 bedridden senior citizens and three elderly residents aged 90-99 years old in Barangay Pampang on January 8, 2025. The initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to provide crucial support to its senior population.
Mayor Lazatin was joined by City Councilor Dr. Mich Bonifacio, as well as members of the Barangay Pampang Council, led by Captain Carlos Dela Cruz, during the distribution. This initiative benefits some of the most vulnerable members of the community, ensuring they receive vital assistance directly at their homes.
A total of 664 bedridden senior citizens and 612 elderly residents between the ages of 90-99 from across the city’s 33 barangays will receive financial aid and Vitamin C supplements. This targeted distribution highlights the city’s commitment to supporting its elderly population, particularly those in critical need of assistance.
In addition to the cash aid and supplements, Mayor Lazatin emphasized that recipients will also benefit from free medical check-ups and laboratory tests provided by the City Health Office and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO). These services aim to address the health concerns of the elderly and ensure they receive the necessary medical attention.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated that prioritizing the needs of bedridden seniors and those in the 90-99 age group remains a top priority of his administration. “We are committed to ensuring that our elderly residents receive the care and support they deserve,” the mayor said.
The distribution program was led by Eduardo Torres, head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, who highlighted that this initiative began in 2019 when Mayor Lazatin took office. Under his leadership, registered seniors began receiving not only financial assistance but also Vitamin C supplements, a step that has made a significant impact on their well-being.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration continues to focus on the welfare of the elderly, ensuring they are not only cared for but also treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. This latest initiative is just one of many programs that prioritize the health and well-being of the city’s senior citizens.
