ANGELES CITY – In response to two recent shooting incidents, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has ordered increased police visibility and the strict enforcement of 24/7 checkpoints at all entry points of the city. The directive, issued on March 17, 2025, aims to enhance public safety and prevent further criminal activities.
The incidents, which occurred on March 15, 2025, in Barangays Mining and Ninoy Aquino, resulted in both victims being hospitalized. These events have raised concerns about security, prompting the city government to take swift action to deter crime and maintain peace and order.
To support these intensified security efforts, the city government has allocated P11 million annually for the allowances of Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) personnel. Additionally, P500,000 in remaining funds will be used to cover fuel expenses, ensuring continuous police patrols across the city. These resources will strengthen law enforcement capabilities and enable more efficient crime prevention initiatives.
With the increase in police presence, Mayor Lazatin also encouraged business owners and residents to be more vigilant and report criminal activities such as theft, robbery, and shooting incidents. The city government and ACPO are working closely together to improve response times and enhance coordination in addressing security concerns.
To further strengthen security measures, Mayor Lazatin inaugurated the upgraded Command Center in February 2025, installing 210 additional high-tech security cameras in key areas. With a total of 375 cameras now operational citywide, Angeles City is ensuring maximum surveillance and eliminating blind spots, reinforcing its commitment to public safety.
