On February 17, 2025, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. was presented with a token of appreciation by Kuliat Foundation Inc. President Lincoln Baluyut during a visit to the Mayor’s Office Conference Room. The token marks the Kuliat Foundation’s support for the city’s efforts to celebrate and preserve its rich culinary heritage.
The token was presented in recognition of the recently inaugurated Angeles City Culinarium, which is part of the Museo Ning Angeles. The Culinarium is a dedicated space that aims to highlight the city’s gastronomic history while encouraging innovation and modern interpretations of traditional dishes. Its opening on February 13 marked a significant step toward promoting the local culinary arts.
The Angeles City Culinarium is designed to be a dynamic hub where culinary traditions are celebrated and the next generation of chefs and food enthusiasts can learn, experiment, and collaborate. The space will also serve as a venue for showcasing local ingredients and cooking techniques that are integral to the city’s identity.
During the meeting, alongside Mayor Lazatin, were several notable figures including ABC President Danilo Nacu, Secretary to the Mayor Raffy Lazatin, and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) Chief Rudy Simeon. Their presence highlights the city government’s strong support for the initiative and its efforts to integrate culture, history, and culinary arts into its development strategy.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his gratitude for the token and the continued support of the Kuliat Foundation, stating that the Culinarium is a vital part of the city’s cultural heritage and plays a key role in further strengthening its tourism and culinary industries. “The Culinarium is more than just a place to preserve our food culture; it’s a space for innovation, education, and the future of Angeles City’s culinary community,” he remarked.
The Culinarium’s opening and the partnership with the Kuliat Foundation reflect the city’s commitment to promoting local culture and providing a platform for culinary professionals to thrive. It is also seen as a means to bolster the local economy by attracting tourists and food lovers who are eager to explore the rich flavors of Angeles City.
The city’s focus on cultural preservation through the Culinarium is part of a broader effort to establish Angeles City as a center for culinary excellence. The inauguration of the space is expected to draw attention to the city’s diverse food offerings, contributing to the growth of its tourism sector and celebrating its rich cultural identity.
