On December 16, 2024, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. recognized the outstanding performances of local schools during the Sinukwan Festival 2024 by distributing cash incentives and certificates of recognition. Cutud Elementary School (CES) and Gueco Balibago Elementary School (GBES) were among the big winners of the event, with CES receiving ₱40,000 and GBES receiving ₱20,000 for their remarkable achievements.
During the ceremony, Mayor Lazatin expressed his pride in the young talents of Angeles City, stating that the cash incentives were a token of appreciation for their hard work, dedication, and creative performances. “These incentives are our way of recognizing and rewarding the hard work and talent of our young Angeleños,” he remarked. “Their performances remind us of the importance of nurturing the arts and preserving our Kapampangan heritage.”
The Sinukwan Festival, known for its celebration of the city’s culture, provided an excellent platform for local students to showcase their artistic skills and cultural pride. Mayor Lazatin also reiterated the city government’s continued commitment to supporting programs that aim to uplift the youth and promote excellence in the arts and culture.
GBES earned impressive accolades during the festival, securing 2nd Place in the Free Interpretation and Best in Costume categories, and 3rd Place in the Street Dance competition. The school’s vibrant performances highlighted their creativity and talent, making them one of the standout participants in the festival.
Meanwhile, CES, competing in the Level 1 category, also garnered recognition with their outstanding performances. They won Best in Headdress and Street Dance and placed 3rd in the Free Interpretation Dance Competition. The school’s dedication to their craft was evident in their well-executed performances, which captivated the audience and judges alike.
The event was attended by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, who also joined Mayor Lazatin in distributing the cash incentives. The presence of city officials underscored the local government’s strong support for cultural and artistic initiatives that benefit the youth.
As the festival concluded, Mayor Lazatin emphasized the significance of the Sinukwan Festival in fostering the development of young talents in Angeles City. By recognizing these students, the mayor hopes to inspire others to embrace their cultural roots and strive for excellence in all their endeavors.
