In a move to further assist the differently-abled community, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. of Angeles City has announced the door-to-door distribution of cash aid and rice to registered Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the city. Starting in the second week of January 2025, a total of 2,500 registered PWDs will benefit from this initiative, receiving five kilos of rice and P1,000 in financial aid.
The initiative, which underscores Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to supporting vulnerable sectors, was finalized during a preparatory meeting held on January 2, 2025. The meeting was led by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, ensuring all aspects of the distribution are well-planned and efficiently executed.
The distribution will be led by the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), headed by Ryan David, who expressed that this is not the first time the mayor has provided financial assistance to the PWD community. The PDAO will oversee the smooth delivery of the aid across all 33 barangays in Angeles City.
According to David, the program reflects Mayor Lazatin’s deep commitment to improving the lives of PWDs in Angeles City. “The welfare of our PWD community has always been one of Mayor Lazatin’s priorities,” David said. “This program is an extension of his dedication to ensuring that no Angeleño, especially those from the vulnerable sectors, is left behind.”
The distribution of rice and cash aid is aimed at alleviating some of the financial burdens faced by PWDs, especially during the start of the new year. This program is a part of the broader initiatives by the city government to support marginalized groups, ensuring they receive the assistance they need to live dignified lives.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and compassionate city, where the needs of the differently-abled are prioritized. “This is part of our continuous effort to create a city where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive,” he said.
The distribution program is expected to provide much-needed relief to the city’s PWD population, and with this initiative, the Angeles City Government continues to show its unwavering support for the welfare of its residents.
