On November 19, 2024, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. officially handed over the keys to two newly-purchased ambulances to the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO). This addition is set to enhance the city’s emergency and disaster response capabilities, ensuring that the city is better prepared to handle urgent medical situations and natural calamities.
The new ambulances will be instrumental in maintaining the city’s critical response time, as Mayor Lazatin emphasized that every minute of delay during an emergency could lead to the loss of human lives. He expressed his commitment to ensuring that the ACDRRMO is well-equipped to respond swiftly to any crisis, and these ambulances will play a key role in achieving the goal of a 10-15 minute maximum response time.
During the turnover ceremony, Mayor Lazatin was joined by City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller, General Services Officer Evangeline Malonzo, former Angeles City Public Memorial Park and Crematorium Head Philip Samson, and members of the ACDRRMO. The presence of these officials underscored the importance of collaboration and community support in improving the city’s emergency services.
The two ambulances, which were purchased through the city’s budget allocation for disaster preparedness, will be deployed across various areas in Angeles City. They are equipped with the latest medical equipment and are designed to provide rapid medical assistance during emergencies. These resources are part of Mayor Lazatin’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the city’s disaster management infrastructure.
Mayor Lazatin further emphasized the importance of quick response times, stating that the city’s commitment to emergency preparedness is a top priority. He recognized that in times of natural disasters or medical emergencies, time is of the essence, and having the right tools and resources, such as the new ambulances, will help save lives.
ACDRRMO Officer Rudy Simeon, who received the ambulances on behalf of the office, expressed his gratitude to Mayor Lazatin for the continuous support and for prioritizing public safety. He assured the mayor that the ambulances would be put to good use and will be instrumental in improving the response times of the ACDRRMO teams during emergencies.
The turnover of the two ambulances marks a significant step in the city’s efforts to improve its disaster response capacity. With these additions, Angeles City is better equipped to face emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents in critical times.
