On November 21, 2024, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. inaugurated the newly expanded Angeles City Command Center, emphasizing the city government’s commitment to enhancing public safety through advanced technology. The expansion is part of the city’s efforts to improve monitoring and response capabilities, ensuring that no area remains unmonitored.
Mayor Lazatin remarked, “There will be no more blind spots in Angeles City, and the safety of our citizens will be further ensured because of this expansion and the new Command Center.” His statement highlights the city’s continuous initiative to make the community safer by integrating cutting-edge technology into its security infrastructure.
The Command Center expansion, led by Michael Lising, includes the installation of additional security cameras at 63 strategic locations across the city. These cameras are part of a broader initiative to increase surveillance and improve the response time of emergency services, ensuring quicker action when incidents occur.
This move reflects the mayor’s strong stance on proactive crime prevention, law enforcement, and emergency response. The expanded facility will allow authorities to monitor events in real time and address potential threats efficiently, contributing to the city’s overall security strategy.
Currently, the Angeles City Emergency Disaster Command Center has installed 186 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, with 62 of them being PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras that have 8MP resolution and 36x optical zoom. Additionally, there are 14 bullet cameras with 4MP resolution and a fully integrated fiber-optic cable system, ensuring high-quality monitoring even in remote areas.
The installation of these advanced surveillance systems is aimed at providing 24/7 monitoring across the city. With this technology, authorities will be able to respond promptly to emergencies, whether they involve crime, accidents, or natural disasters, minimizing risks to residents and visitors alike.
During the visit, Mayor Lazatin was accompanied by key officials including Lising, Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon, and Arn Lagazo of the Command Center. Together, they underscored the importance of this upgrade as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to foster a safer and more secure community.
