On February 5, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. conducted an inspection of the newly expanded Angeles City Command Center, where he experienced firsthand the newly implemented facial recognition security system. This enhancement is part of a broader effort by the city government to integrate advanced technology aimed at improving public safety across the region. The expanded Command Center will officially be inaugurated on February 6, 2025.
Mayor Lazatin expressed confidence in the improvements, stating that with the expansion of the Command Center, there will no longer be any blind spots in the city’s surveillance. The increased coverage, he said, would greatly enhance the city’s ability to monitor and ensure the safety of its residents more effectively.
As part of the upgrade, a significant number of new CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the city. A total of 375 cameras are now operational across Angeles City, providing 24/7 monitoring of public spaces. This increase in cameras is designed to bolster the city’s ability to track and respond to incidents in real time, making the city safer for all.
Among the new technological installations are eight license plate recognition cameras, which have been strategically placed at key city boundaries, including areas in Porac, Mabalacat City, the City of San Fernando, and Magalang. These cameras are designed to enhance security by tracking vehicles entering and exiting the city, ensuring that law enforcement can quickly identify and respond to any suspicious activity.
The inspection was attended by several key officials, including Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Command Center Chief Michael Lising, Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles, and Angeles City Tourism Officer. Together with Mayor Lazatin, they reviewed the updated security measures and discussed how these innovations will improve the city’s public safety systems.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that this upgrade is a critical part of the city government’s ongoing efforts to modernize its public safety systems. The expansion of the Command Center and the introduction of cutting-edge technologies like facial recognition and license plate recognition cameras will allow city officials to respond more quickly to emergencies and enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement operations.
The newly expanded Angeles City Command Center represents a significant leap forward in the city’s commitment to maintaining safety and security. With these advanced technologies now in place, the city is set to provide a more secure environment for its residents and visitors alike, reinforcing Mayor Lazatin’s vision for a safer and more connected Angeles City.
