On November 20, 2024, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. visited the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) to inspect the ongoing Phase 2 construction. This phase is part of the ongoing effort to expand the facility, which was formerly known as Ospital Ning Angeles. The expansion aims to improve healthcare services for Angeleños and surrounding communities, ensuring that the medical needs of the public are met with greater capacity and efficiency.
Phase 2 of the construction is focused on the completion of the 5th to 7th floors of the RLMMC annex building. Once finished, these new floors will significantly increase the hospital’s ability to accommodate more patients, particularly those requiring critical medical care. This expansion is part of the city’s broader initiative to upgrade local healthcare infrastructure and ensure that residents have access to high-quality, comprehensive medical services.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of this project, highlighting its potential to serve the growing healthcare needs of the city. The expansion of RLMMC is crucial in improving access to medical services, reducing overcrowding in hospitals, and ensuring that patients receive timely and adequate care. The new floors are expected to house additional hospital rooms, advanced medical facilities, and specialized departments.
Accompanying the Mayor during the inspection was City Engineer’s Office Officer-in-Charge, Helen Ayro, who provided updates on the progress of the construction. The presence of Ayro underscored the administration’s commitment to ensuring that the project stays on track and meets its planned objectives. The Mayor expressed his satisfaction with the progress and reiterated the importance of completing the project on time to benefit the public.
The RLMMC expansion is a priority project for the city government, as it addresses the growing demand for healthcare services, particularly in light of the increasing population and evolving medical needs. With the completion of Phase 2, the hospital will be better equipped to handle a higher volume of patients, particularly those in need of critical and emergency care.
The construction of the additional floors is expected to be completed within the planned timeline, and the Mayor is confident that the expanded facility will greatly improve the quality of healthcare services in the city. Once operational, the new sections of the hospital will be instrumental in reducing the burden on existing medical facilities and providing better care for residents and visitors alike.
Mayor Lazatin concluded the inspection by reaffirming his administration’s dedication to improving public healthcare and ensuring that the city’s healthcare facilities meet the needs of its people. The expansion of RLMMC is a significant step towards providing accessible, high-quality medical care for all Angeleños and strengthening the city’s healthcare system for the future.
