On Tuesday, July 2, the Pampanga Press Club, headed by President Noel Tulabut, celebrated a notable event with the re-launch of Philippine Airlines’ (PAL) route from Clark International Airport (CRK) to Basco, Batanes. This initiative marks a renewed effort to improve connectivity and stimulate tourism between Central Luzon and the Philippines’ northernmost province. The ceremony, held at CRK, was attended by key figures from the airline industry and local government, highlighting the significance of this development.
Richard Daenos, Director of the Department of Tourism – Region 3 Office, was present at the event and underscored the importance of this route in promoting Batanes as a top tourist destination. He pointed out the unique cultural and natural attractions of Batanes, which have always been a magnet for tourists. Daenos expressed optimism that the re-established route would encourage more visitors to explore the stunning landscapes and rich heritage of Batanes.
Prominent executives from Philippine Airlines attended the event, showcasing the airline’s commitment to expanding its network and enhancing passenger services. Notable attendees included VP for Sales Salvador Britanico, VP for Corporate Affairs Anne Tiongco, AVP for Philippine Sales Bryan Sansolis, and PAL Area Head for Central Luzon Pedrito Dimaculangan. Their presence highlighted PAL’s strategic focus on boosting regional air travel and offering more convenient options for travelers from Central Luzon.
Additionally, Lalaine Medrano, Angeles City Ticketing Manager, and Ma. Cielo Villaluna, PAL’s Head of External Communications and Spokesperson, were also in attendance. Villaluna, as the spokesperson, shared details about PAL’s plans to increase flight frequencies and enhance customer service. She mentioned that this route re-launch is part of a larger initiative to rejuvenate PAL’s domestic network post-pandemic and meet the rising demand for domestic travel.
The event also featured the participation of LIPAD President Noel Manankil and Clark Development Corporation President Agnes VST Devanadera, who joined the Pampanga Press Club. Their presence signified a strong collaboration between the aviation sector and local development authorities to promote Clark International Airport as a key gateway to various Philippine destinations. Both Manankil and Devanadera reiterated their commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance Clark’s connectivity and contribute to regional economic growth.
During the ceremony, PAL executives and local officials discussed the future of air travel in the region, exploring opportunities for further collaboration to ensure the success of the re-launched route and other potential routes from CRK. These discussions highlighted a shared vision of establishing Clark as a premier aviation hub in the country, serving both domestic and international travelers.
The re-launch of the CRK to Basco route by Philippine Airlines represents a significant milestone, promising to open new opportunities for tourism and economic development in Central Luzon and Batanes.
