ANGELES CITY – On November 29, 2024, Senator Imee Marcos visited Angeles City on a special occasion—her birthday—but chose to put community service at the forefront of her celebration. Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. expressed heartfelt appreciation for Senator Marcos’ dedication to helping the residents of the city, emphasizing that she has been a strong ally in delivering support to Angeleños.
Mayor Lazatin recognized Senator Marcos as a committed partner in promoting the welfare of the city’s people. “Senator Marcos has become a beloved partner of Angeles City, consistently delivering programs and aid that directly benefit Angeleños,” the mayor stated. He noted that even on her birthday, her focus remained on uplifting the community she serves.
Over the years, Senator Marcos has contributed to several aid initiatives, particularly through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program. In November 2022, she allocated ₱3.2 million to assist over 1,000 residents, followed by an additional ₱4.3 million for 1,447 beneficiaries in February 2024. Her support also extended to the medical sector, with a ₱20 million fund dedicated to the renovation of the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC).
This year, Senator Marcos’ birthday was commemorated with the Zumbarangay 2024 program in Barangay Cutud. The event attracted more than 500 participants from 33 different barangays, promoting health and wellness through group Zumba sessions. This program, which aims to encourage fitness and community participation, is part of a nationwide effort to foster a healthy lifestyle among Filipinos.
In addition to the birthday event, Senator Marcos also led the inauguration of the new Pampang Public Market in Angeles City, further demonstrating her commitment to the city’s growth and infrastructure. Mayor Lazatin praised her role in the city’s development, saying, “Sen. Marcos has been instrumental in improving our public infrastructure and social programs.”
During the ceremony, Mayor Lazatin extended a warm welcome to Senator Marcos, expressing the city’s appreciation for her continuous support. “Welcome na welcome po kayo sa Angeles City, Senator Marcos. Sa ngalan ng mga Angeleño, maraming salamat po sa inyong suporta, at maligayang kaarawan!” he said, underscoring the strong bond between the senator and the local community.
The celebration in Barangay Cutud was attended by several dignitaries, including First District Representative Carmelo ‘Jon’ Lazatin II, Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, and members of the City Council. Also present were Mabalacat City Vice Mayor Atty. Geld Aquino, Councilor Jun Castro, and the barangay captains of Cutud, Pulung Cacutud, and Sapalibutad, demonstrating widespread community engagement and support for Senator Marcos’ visit.
