On November 29, 2024, 36 differently-abled residents from Barangay Sta. Trinidad were beneficiaries of financial and food aid from the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. The distribution, which took place through house-to-house visits, included P1,000 in cash assistance and five kilos of rice for each recipient. This initiative is part of the mayor’s commitment to supporting vulnerable sectors in the community.
The distribution of aid was spearheaded by the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), with Ryan David at the helm. The PDAO’s involvement underscores the city’s structured approach to ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most. According to David, this type of support is not new under Mayor Lazatin’s leadership, as he has consistently prioritized the well-being of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Angeles City.
Mayor Lazatin has made the welfare of PWDs a focus of his administration, reflecting a compassionate and inclusive approach to governance. The distribution of financial assistance and rice is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to provide aid and promote equality for all residents, regardless of their physical conditions. This initiative reinforces the city’s goal of creating a supportive environment for differently-abled individuals.
The program aims to reach a total of 2,500 differently-abled residents across the city. Each beneficiary is set to receive the same assistance: P1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice. By extending this aid, the city government hopes to alleviate financial strains and ensure that PWDs have access to basic resources, contributing to their overall well-being and dignity.
This house-to-house distribution was designed to ensure that even those who might have difficulty accessing centralized locations receive their assistance. The approach highlights the city’s commitment to outreach and inclusivity, ensuring that support is provided directly to individuals in their homes.
The aid given to Barangay Sta. Trinidad’s residents was warmly received, with many expressing their gratitude for the mayor’s and city government’s continued support. The financial assistance and rice subsidy are particularly significant during challenging times when many residents face economic hardships.
Mayor Lazatin’s ongoing efforts to support PWDs and other vulnerable groups in Angeles City show that the local government is dedicated to fostering a community where every resident is valued and cared for. This initiative is a testament to the city’s dedication to upholding the rights and improving the quality of life for all of its citizens, including those with disabilities.
